Everyone is hyped as Maeby gears up for her first-ever headline show this Monday,
December 2nd, at The Rebel Lounge in Phoenix. Known for her bold style, Maeby is ready to step into the spotlight like never before. We caught up with her to talk about the excitement, her favorite songs, and what fans can expect from this special performance.
With this being your first headline show, what are you most excited about?
I'm excited to feel a sense of actual community. While I have been able to perform in the past as an opener, this is the first time that I feel like people are coming to actually experience MAEBYLAND. I'll be able to speak and interact with everyone, and I just feel like the stage will feel more like home than any other time I've been on stage thus far. :)
What is your favorite song to perform?
I haven't performed it in front of anyone yet, but I think I'd have to say "Yea". It's just so fun and silly, and the song gives me the same feeling that "Sk8er Boy" gives me-- except it's like the POV of the girl that ends up with the skater boy. I didn't necessarily write it with that song in mind, but after finishing it, that's how I feels. SPOILER: I'll be performing that song first in my set December 2nd.
Are there any juicy secrets or surprises we can expect for the show, or are you keeping it all under wraps for now?
I'll be performing my upcoming single "Not Ur Friend", which is going to be released VERY soon (emphasis on VERY). I'm also excited to see everyone's reaction over a cover song I'll be singing. I'm not going to say which songs I'll be covering, but I know that everyone's going to freak over at least one of them.
What is the dress code for Maebyland?
Rachel Green, meets Clueless, meets Skims? I've gone through a lot of fashion phases, but I feel most confident in darks/neutrals. Honestly at the end of the day, when in doubt, mini skirt it out.
If this show was a soup flavor what would it be?
It would 100,000% be hot and sour soup. Fun fact, I make the best hot and sour soup.
Once this show is over, what’s next? New music, or are you just going to sit back and relax?
There's no rest for the local independent artist, so I'll be hitting the ground running by releasing my next single "Not Ur Friend", opening the 8123 Fest (01/016/2025), and performing at the Phoenix Rock Lottery (02/01/2025)! My goal is to gain regional, if not national recognition next year. I'm excited to say that I'm finally about to hit my first 100k streams for one of my songs, "Rock Me", and the fact that it's being streamed globally makes my heart race. The idea that my music is starting to feel bigger than me and resonating with a curated community excites me like no other. At the end of the day, I feel like the ugly duckling trying to find my music family, and I think 2025 is the year I'll finally feel a sense of family.
